Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 'And as for us, since we have listened to the Guidance, we have accepted it: and any who believes in his Lord has no fear, either of a short (account) or of any injustice. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 And that if they should keep to the (right) way, We would certainly give them to drink of abundant water, 16 and tested them with it. And whosoever turns away from his Lord's Remembrance, He will hurl him into a stern punishment. 17 And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: 18 (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation). 19
