Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; 4 We thought that no man or jinn could ever tell lies about God. 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 Like you, they thought that Allah would never raise the dead. 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. 9 And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 10 And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 When we heard the call to guidance, we believed in it. He who believes in his Lord has no fear of loss or of injustice. 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 That We might try them there by. And whosoever turneth aside from the remembrance of his Lord, him He shall thrust into a torment vehement. 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
