Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah); 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them. 10 And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: 11 And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
