Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 'And as for us, since we have listened to the Guidance, we have accepted it: and any who believes in his Lord has no fear, either of a short (account) or of any injustice. 13 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: 14 However, the deviators from the Truth will be the fuel for hell". 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
