Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 "Certain human beings sought refuge with certain jinn and this increased the rebelliousness of those jinn. 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 and that “we would take up stations in the heaven to try to hear but anyone who now attempts to listen finds a shooting meteor in wait for him”; 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. 11 And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight. 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
