Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 ‘And that the fool among us used to utter false exaggerations against Allah.’ 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah); 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him. 9 'And we understand not whether ill is intended to those on earth, or whether their Lord (really) intends to guide them to right conduct. 10 and that “some of us are upright and some of us are otherwise for we follow widely divergent paths”; 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
