Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 and that “He – exalted be His Majesty – has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 But there were certain men from mankind who would take refuge with certain males from the jinn and they increased them in tyranny. 6 ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 notwithstanding that we were established in positions [which we had thought well-suited] to listening to [whatever secrets might be in] it: and anyone who now [or ever] tries to listen will [likewise] find a flame lying in wait for him! 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 Some of us are righteous, while others are not; we follow divergent paths. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 'And as for us, since we have listened to the Guidance, we have accepted it: and any who believes in his Lord has no fear, either of a short (account) or of any injustice. 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 but those who are wrongdoers will become the fuel of Hell." 15 And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. 19
