Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 He -- exalted be our Lord's majesty! has not taken to Himself either consort or a son. 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them. 10 As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: 18 When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. 19
