Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 which guides to the right path; so we have believed in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord, 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 The ignorant fool among us has spoken outrageously against Allah, 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." 19
