Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 we never thought that either human or jinn would ever tell a lie against Allah!' 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 (And Allah's Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. 16 so as to test them by this means: for he who shall turn away from the remembrance of his Sustainer, him will He cause to undergo suffering most grievous. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
