Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 He exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, who has neither taken to Himself a wife, nor a son! 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 and that [we were mistaken when] we thought that neither man nor [any of] the invisible forces would ever tell a lie about God. 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one. 7 ‘And we reached the sky, so we found it strongly guarded and filled with comets.’ 8 and that “we would take up stations in the heaven to try to hear but anyone who now attempts to listen finds a shooting meteor in wait for him”; 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 Some of us are obedient while others are wrongdoers; it is the obedient who have found the right path, 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. 19

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
