Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad SAW): "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns listened (to this Quran). They said: 'Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this Quran)! 1 Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah. 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course. 14 However, the deviators from the Truth will be the fuel for hell". 15 [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, 16 That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
