Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
