In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
