In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
