In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Indeed during the day you have a long schedule of occupations. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
