O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
