In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Indeed during the day you have a long schedule of occupations. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
