Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou folded in garments! 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
