In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
