Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 and endure with patience whatever people may say [against thee,] and avoid them with a comely avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
