Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
