Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god except Him. Take Him for your Guardian. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
