Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
