Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
