Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
