In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 A half of it or a little less 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 on the Day when the earth and the mountains will be convulsed and the mountains will [crumble and] become like a sand-dune on the move! 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
