Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
