20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
