Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 A half of it or a little less 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
