Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
