Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
