20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
