In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
