The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
