The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
