The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and defilement flee! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
