The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your clothing purify 4 And all abomination shun! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
