The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
