The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
