The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
