The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
