The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord glorify 3 thy robes purify 4 Pollution shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
