The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
