The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
