The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 arise and give warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
