The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your garments purify! 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
