The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked round; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
