The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord glorify 3 thy robes purify 4 And all abomination shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
