The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
